CAN Receives Two-Year Grant

Green Mountain Coffee Roaster (GMCR) has awarded CAN a significant grant to implement our two-year initiative Youth Leadership and Education for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.  This initiative will be launched in January 2011 in two CAN partner communities where GMCR sources coffee: Huatusco, México and San Ramón, Nicaragua, by CAN partner organizations. In two years we will have worked within each region to develop youth leaders to foster school and community gardens that will promote year round access to fresh food for farming families.  We are very excited to collaborate with GMCR on this second project — GMCR currently supports the CAN Food Security Project in Estelí, Nicaragua — working towards sustainable food production and food security in coffee-producing communities in México and Central America.  You too can join the effort by supporting scholarships for youth from these communities - click here to donate!
