May 4th UC Santa Cruz Event
Greetings Subscribers
The 4th Annual Fair Trade Market Place is almost here once again! This student organized market brings different non-profit organizations, student groups, and community members together to raise awareness around trade justice by creating a socially just market place. All goods sold at the Fair Trade Market Place are fairly produced and traded, including clothing, jewelry, chocolate, coffee, and much more! The Fair Trade Market Place is a great way to learn more about the organizations in our area working for social justice around the globe, trade alternatives, food systems, and to support a socially just economy (and a great place to check out Mother Days gift ideas :). On top of all that, there'll be FREE TAMALES and a live dance performance by a local Mexican folk dance group! PLEASE JOIN US!
Every year, this event is coordinated with the Education for Sustainable Living Program's (ESLP) lecture night focused on Food Systems. This year, we'll be hosting an interactive panel of 8 different food systems activists sharing how they work towards sustainable food systems and social justice. The evening's keynote speaker is Eric Holt Gimenez, Executive Director for Food First/Institute for Food and Development Policy in Oakland.
