Field Study Internship
CAN field internships are rich learning experiences that allow students
to make a difference as they learn. This experiential learning program offers university students the opportunity to live and learn in rural Mesoamerica. Interns work along side farmers and community organizations to become exposed to the realities of global trade systems.
- CAN provides an interdisciplinary curriculum to guide your field experience including resources for social action upon return.
- Academic credit can be arranged through
the field study internship office at your university.
- Qualified non-students may also serve as interns or
volunteers in CAN partner communities.

We currently offer placements in
Yucatan, Mexico
Agua Buena, Costa Rica
Matagalpa, Nicaragua
CAN is a non-profit organization, affiliated with the University of California, Santa Cruz. In addition to coordinating field internships and grassroots marketing of fair trade direct coffee, CAN hosts an internship program at UCSC. Campus interns work integrally in all of our activities in the United States.
