El Intercambio: Growing Global Sustainability

The Community Agroecology Network (CAN) is excited to announce the second annual visit of internship coordinators from our five partner communities in Latin America! Last year, El Intercambio: Bridging Global Communities was a great success in promoting CAN’s efforts to support sustainable rural livelihoods and environments by generating greater interest in these issues as well as strengthening relationships between researchers, students, farmers and community representatives. We hope to build upon last year’s achievements with this year’s Intercambio which will take place:

January 27^th – February 7^th, 2010.

	Pan Dulce Friday: Diálogo, Conocimiento y Oportunidades/Dialogue, Knowledge and Opportunities This Cross-cultural Intercambio event will engage us in a community dialogue with representatives from CAN's partners in Central America and Mexico. Join us in creating space for conversation about immigration, social justice issues, and how you can take action through International Internship opportunities. Read more... This session will include a screening of "El Recorrido / The Journey", and dialogue with community representatives from Central America and Mexico. Students will learn more about the CAN experience from former interns. Join us for comida/food and a cross cultural exchange/dialogue that will help to open new doors in our understanding of globalization, immigration and the importance of sustainable communities in Central America and Mexico. International Internship Coordinator Luncheon The Community Agroecology Network (CAN) would like to invite you to join us for a lunch organized especially for regional internship coordinators, student advisers, professors, and students. Read more... During this event, Latin American community representatives will share information and facilitate discussions on CAN’s diverse international field internship programs. Importantly, this event offers students the opportunity to mingle with the international coordinators allowing for one-on-one connections with representatives from the communities students could potentially visit. ** Please RSVP to coordinator@CANunite.org by January 20th.
